Riders Fall To Knights On Senior Night
The Ichabod Crane Riders Varsity Basketball team dropped their second game in a row, this one at home on senior night vs Lansingburgh. The Riders kept it close through the first three quarters.
The only senior for the Riders that was active, Peyton Mavrides set the tone early with a three to open up the game. After a couple buckets inside from the Knights’ Trevor Green, Mason Little, and John Bessette, ‘Burgh took a 8-3 lead. Eddie Ogden was able to keep the Riders in it with a layup and a three-pointer. At the end of the quarter the score was knotted up at 11.
It was more of the same from the Riders in the second quarter, just being able to hang in with the 11-4 Knights. The Lansingburgh offense was able to get going more efficiently, with Isaiah Knight leading the way with 9 points, all of them off of three-pointers, just in the second quarter. The Riders’ Christian Pesano was able to get to the line and keep Ichabod close, with 11 second quarter points. At the half the Riders trailed by just 5, 27-22.
Out of the halftime break, both defenses held their own, only allowing both sides 11 points each. Bessette had 4 points in the third while Knight added another 4 as well. Ogden hit another three-pointer, and Donovan Brown added 4 points inside. At the end of the third, it was still close, 38-33 Knights’ led.
The fourth quarter was where Lansingburgh finished off the job. Green set the tone of the quarter with a two-handed dunk, that was apart of his 8-point quarter. The Riders only scored 4-fourth quarter points, a layup and foul shot from Pesano, and a free-throw from Rama Culver. The final score was Lansingburgh 56, Ichabod Crane 37.
The Riders will close out their regular season on Monday, February 12th at Voorheesville at 5:30 pm.
As for Lansingburgh, they will finish their regular season at home vs Schalmont on Friday, February 9th at 6:30 pm.
