Meet the Writers!

Hi! My name is Jake Martino! I am the co-founder of Upstate Sports Zone. I am 14 years old and I am a Freshman in the Class of 2020 at La Salle Institute. Unlike other kids my age, I have a passion for golf and it is my life-long dream to become a professional. I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society which rewards high academic excellence. My favorite sports teams are NYCFC, North Carolina, Los Angeles Angels and the Carolina Panthers. At Upstate Sports Zone, I not only run our website, but I also cover sports such as the MLS, PGA Tour, Upstate Local and I am also the Senior Advisor for our Twitter and Facebook Pages. In addition, I also have my own page on the website called "What 2 Watch 4", where everyday I choose one game that stands out and do a preview article. At Upstate Sports Zone, my goal is to improve my journalism skills and also my website design skills. Upstate Sports Zone has a bright future and I am glad to be apart of it!

Hi I am Jared McCabe. I am currently a junior at La Salle Institute in Troy, NY, class of 2018.  I am the co-owner of Upstate Sports Zone. I cover the NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA,NCAAF, and NCAAB. I'm also  a fan of the New York Giants, New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, Duke Basketball, and NYCFC. I want to pursue communications in college and hope to be a sports broadcaster in the future.

My name is Camdyn Ames I attend Ichabod Crane Central School in Valatie, New York where I will be a Freshman this fall. I am an avid sports fan. I follow MLB, NFL, NBA, College Football, College Basketball, and College Baseball. I also play Baseball, Football, and Basketball. I cover the Saugerties Stallions Collegiate baseball team who is part of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. I also cover Hudson Valley Community College baseball and various sports for Ichabod Crane High School such as baseball, softball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, and football. Hi my name is Austin Walsh and I am a student at Ichabod Crane high school. For Upstate Sports Zone I cover football, baseball, and basketball. I joined the Upstate Sports team because I wanted be apart of a sports journalist group and expand my knowledge in sports journalism. My favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys and my favorite basketball teams are the University of North Carolina and the Boston Celtics. My favorite baseball team is the New York Yankees.

Hi! My name is Michael Fritz. I am 14 years old and a freshman at the La Salle Institute. I play tennis, golf, basketball, and soccer. I love sports and dream of becoming a sports caster. My favorite teams are the Golden State Warriors, Chelsea F.C, the New York Yankees, Villanova basketball, and the New York Giants. I will be covering tennis, golf, college basketball, and the NBA. Hi. My name is Caden Balint. I am currently a junior at La Salle Institute in Troy, NY. I am planning on studying business or communications in college. I am a New York Rangers, New York Giants, and a New York Knicks fan. I am planning on working with baseball, hockey, basketball, and football and lacrosse.   

Hi, my name is Nicholas Bishop, I’m 17 years old and a student of LaSalle institute. I cover the NFL and LaSalle sports. I’m joining Upstate Sports Zone because sports have always been my passion and I want to see what it would be like to be a sports journalist. My favorite NFl team is the Arizona Cardinals, favorite NBA is the San Antonio Spurs, my favorite NHL team is the Detroit Red Wings.
