Final Saratoga 50, La Salle 41

Toga, among all other teams out of the Colonial Council expect a tough test at the hands of La Salle. The Blue Streaks (11-2) coming in have been the hottest team in AA basketball, looking to capture its 11th straight victory when they took on La Salle on Tuesday.

The first half was back and forth, trading baskets back and forth. But the game real test for Toga came in the second half. La Salle brought on the 1-3-1 zone and forced four straight turnovers on the Blue Streaks. Early in the second half Toga struggeled guarding Joe DeLollo in the paint. The Cadets came out running in the second half, playing fast, cut the lead and then would eventually take the lead.

But then came the factor of rotations. La Salle’s what looked like 7-man rotation could not keep up with the 7-9 bodies that Saratoga had coming in and out of the game constantly. The players coming in and out were well rested and eventually wore La Salle out and began playing quicker basketball. Saratoga kept putting on the pressure and hitting quick baskets, La Salle just couldn’t respond and shots were not falling.

Saratoga was led by Brain Hart with 11 points and Drew Patnode totaled 9 points in the win. Joe DeLollo and Ray Evans both finished with 10 points. La Salle takes on Cohoes on Friday night, while Saratoga heads to Guilderland to face the Dutchmen.
