Eagles Head Back To The NFC Championship With A 15-10 Victory Over The Falcons
This was no cake walk for the top-seeded Eagles. The Falcons tested them all night, with their offense. But Philly proved to be the better team by way of the field goal.
For the Eagles, Nick Foles threw for 246 yards, running back Jay Ajayi ran 15 times for 54 yards, and LeGarrette Blount ran 9 times for 19 yards and a touchdown.
On the losing side, Matt Ryan threw for 210 yards, and a touchdown. Julio Jones received 9 passes for 101 yards, but could not find the end zone.
On the second play of the game, the Eagles fumbled and turned the ball over to Atlanta who turned that into a 33-yard Matt Bryant field goal. The Falcons took an early 3-0 lead.
Early on in the second quarter, the Eagles struck back with a touchdown from Blount. The extra-point was no good, after it hit the left upright. So Philly led 6-3 with 10:28 remaining in the half.
Atlanta would flip the score again, as Ryan passed it to Devonta Freeman for a 6-yard score, and the 10-6 lead. Just before the half Jake Elliott drilled a 53-yard field goal to bring it to within one, 10-9.
There was no scoring until 11 seconds remaining in the third quarter, when Elliott nailed a 37-yarder. Elliott would hit another field goal, this time a 21-yarder to give the Eagles a 15-10 win.
The Eagles will play at home next week vs either the Saints or Vikings in the NFC Championship at 6:40.
