Falcons Upset Rams In Wild Card Round
In the second Wild Card game of the day, the Atlanta Falcons proved to be more dominant on defense in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Matt Ryan completed 21 of 30 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown in the win, Devonta Freeman ran 18 times for 66 yards and a touchdown. Kicker Matt Bryant was also 4 for 4 on field goals, nailing a 29, 51, 25, and 54 yard field goals.
Jared Goff completed 24 of his 45 passes, for 259 yards and a touchdown. MVP candidate Todd gurley ran 14 times for 101 yards in the loss.
The Falcons took an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter on two Matt Bryant field goals, one from 29-yards and the other from 51-yards.
Atlanta jumped out to a 13-0 lead after a 3-yard touchdown run from Freeman.
The Rams weren’t finished though as they cut the lead to three after a Cooper Kupp 14-yard touchdown catch and a 35-yard field goal from Sam Ficken. The Falcons led at the half 13-10.
In the third quarter, the Falcons extended their lead to 9 after two more Bryant field goals. These two were from 25 and 54-yards out.
In the fourth quarter the Rams could only manage a 32-yard field goal from Ficken. Atlanta capped off the game with an 8-yard Julio Jones touchdown catch to win it 26-13.
Next week Atlanta will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia at 4:35 on NBC. As for the Rams they finish a great season at 11-5 in the regular season and an NFC West title.
