Boy what a game this was! Such a high scoring battle, so many lead changes, ties, and momentum shifts. This was probably the best CFP Semifinal yet!

Jacob Fromm was 20 for 29 for Georgia with 210 yards in the air and 2 touchdowns. On the ground Sony Michel had 11 carries for 181 yards and 3 touchdown, and his partner in crime Nick Chubb had 14 carries for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Heisman winner Baker Mayfield had 287 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss, Ryan Anderson had 201 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Oklahoma struck first on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Mayfield to Marquise Brown to give the Sooners an early 7-0 lead.

Georgia responded quickly though with a touchdown of their own, Fromm completed a 13-yard touchdown to Sony Michel out of the backfield to tie it at 7 with 8:27 left in the first quarter.

On the ensuing possession the Sooners scored again on a Rodney Anderson 9-yard run to go up 14-7 with 6:56 left in the first quarter.

On the Bulldogs next drive, they set up a field goal from 48-yards out and Rodrigo Blankenship was wide left. The Sooners took over on their own 31 yard line with 1:37 left in the first quarter.

At the end of the first quarter Oklahoma led 14-7.

On the second play of the second quarter Rodney Anderson got a handoff and cut left and broke away from the Bulldog defense, en route to a 41-yard score and a 21-7 lead for the Sooners.

On the very first play of Georgia’s drive Michel took a handoff 75 yards to the house to bring Georgia within 7. 21-14 Oklahoma led with 14:00 left in the half.

Later in the second quarter Austin Seibert nailed a 38-yard field goal to give Oklahoma 24-14 lead.

With 6 seconds left in the half, Oklahoma pulled some trickery on the bulldogs as Mayfield handed the ball off to Dimitri Flowers, who then pitched it back to CeeDee Lamb who tossed a 2-yard touchdown to Mayfield. That gave the Sooners a 31-14 lead.

Just before the half, with 1 second remaining Blankenship hit a career high and Rose Bowl record 55-yard field goal to cut the Sooner lead down to 31-17.

Right out of the gates of the second half, Chubb went 50-yards to the house to make it a 31-24 game.

With 41 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Michel took the ball 38-yards to the end zone for a touchdown to tie the ball game at 31.

On the Sooners next possession Mayfield threw a pick that was returned by Dominick Sanders for 39 yards. Georgia would score on a Javon Wims 4-yard catch from Fromm. The Bulldogs take the lead 38-31 with 13:00 remaining.

On the ensuing drive Oklahoma tied it up on a Mayfield 11-yard pass to Flowers for a touchdown. 8:47 remaining and the ballgame is tied.

As Georgia was driving, Michel got a carry and fumbled. The ball was recovered by Steven Parker and taken all the way back 46-yards for a touchdown and gave the Sooners a 45-38 lead with 6:52 left in the game.

On the next Georgia drive, Chubb punched it in from 2-yards out and tied the game at 45 for the Bulldogs.

After 60 minutes of regulation, the score was tied 45-45 and the game, sent into overtime.

Georgia got the ball first and Blankenship made a 38-yard field goal to go up 48-45. Oklahoma got the ball next and baker Mayfield had the opportunity to win the game and send his team to Atlanta for the National Championship, but he couldn’t… Austin Seibert could though as he drained a 33-yard field goal to tie it up again at 48.

Oklahoma would start the second overtime with the ball and they would set up for another field goal, this time from 27-yards, and this time it would be blocked by Georgia’s Lorenzo Carter.

Georgia would take over, needing any kind of score to win it and go to Atlanta for the National Championship. That’s exactly what happened, Sony michel ran it in from 27-yards out to give georgia the 54-48 win over Oklahoma and send the Bulldogs to the National Championship.
