Oklahoma Outlasts TCU In BIG 12 Opener
Conference play started today in college basketball and we got a great battle between Oklahoma and TCU! Oklahoma came into this game ranked 12th with a 10-1 record. TCU came in ranked 10th with an undefeated 12-0 record.
Trae Young has been fantastic all season, but today he was absolutely ridiculous! Young had 39 points, with 6 three-pointers, and 14 assists. Young also sank the game winning free throws with 7 seconds remaining.
Kenrich Williams was on for TCU, dropping 22 and collecting 9 boards in the loss. Kuato Noi collected 14 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.
Oklahoma came out of the gates fast, jumping to a 11-0 lead. TCU quickly made up the difference to stay in the game.
TCU ended the half with a 5-point lead, 46-41.
TCU got out to a 13-point lead in the second half, but the Sooners powered back. The last minute of this game was absolute madness.
After a TCU timeout with a 85-85 tied game, Vladimir Brodziansky took the lead for the Horned Frogs with a layup with 44 seconds remaining.
13 seconds later, Kameron McGusty made a three to give Oklahoma a 1-point advantage, 88-87.
Kenrich Williams answered back with a jumper to give TCU a 1-point lead 89-88.
Desmond Bane fouled Trae Young with 7 seconds remaining and he drained both free throws to give Oklahoma the 90-89 win.
Oklahoma takes on rival Oklahoma State on Wednesday, January 3rd on ESPNU at 9:00 PM. TCU travels to Baylor on Tuesday, January 2nd on ESPNN at 7:00 PM.
