La Salle Handles Ichabod Crane

It was a tough game for the Ichabod Crane Boys Varsity Basketball team against Colonial Council rival La Salle last night. An already young Ichabod team took on the very experienced Cadets without three starters due to injury (Chad Salazar, Christian Pesano, and Matt Ragosta).
Early on the Riders stuck with La Salle, forcing them to take outside shots, which worked well for the first four minutes of the game. On offense Eddie Ogden hit two earl three’s that kept the Riders close. At around the 3-minute mark sophomore Austin Walsh went down with a head injury and had to exit the game, so yet another injury for Ichabod. At the end of the first quarter LSI led 21-12.
In the second quarter La Salle really broke it open, Ray Evans hit two three’s, and Joe DeLollo added 7 points in just the second quarter alone. At the half La Salle led 41-19.
This was without a doubt an experience game for the Riders, with six sophomores on the team, all of them being their first year playing at the varsity level, this game was about gaining experience.
Probably the best player out on the court for Ichabod was sophomore forward Zach Kennedy. Kennedy had 15 points and grabbed a ton of rebounds to help the Riders. He really stepped up, with all the injuries that this team is dealing with, he really helped fill that role at forward.
For the Cadets Ray Evans was money from deep all night long, and Joe DeLollo was a beast inside getting tip in after tip in and almost throwing down a dunk. DeLollo had 20, while Evans added another 15. Ian Duncan's jumper was also on from mid-range as he scored 12.
La Salle went on to win this one, 72-36.
