Trae Young Sets D-1 Assists Record In The Sooners Win
It was a historic night for star freshman Trae Young as he set the Division 1 record for most assists in a game with 22. He also added 26 points in Oklahoma’s 105-68 win over Northwestern State.
A big reason Young was able to get all 22 assists was his teammates. “I give a lot of credit to my teammates, I wouldn’t be able to make an assist without my teammates knocking it down. They did a tremendous job making shots. But I mean that’s a big accomplishment, because not only is it an individual award. I feel like it’s a team thing, so that’s big for me more than anything else.” Young said.
Brady Manek scored 22 points, and was 4 for 6 from three for the Sooners, Christian James added 13 points, and Kameron McGusty added 15 off the bench.
For Northwestern State Ishmael Lane led all scorers with 17, Larry Owens followed him with 16, and Iziahiah Sweeney scored 13 off the bench.
The 9-1 Sooners take on Northwestern at home on Friday night at 7:00 PM on ESPN2. Northwestern State travels to face Utah today at 9:00 PM on the PAC12 Network.
