Upstate Sports Zone’s Athlete of the Week: Joe Girard III
Our first Athlete of the Week for the winter season is Glens Falls star Joseph Girard III. Girard had 46 points in Friday night’s 91-49 win over Broadalbin-Perth, sinking 7 three-pointers. He also moved up from 9th to 5th on the All-Time Section 2 scoring list, passing Scotia’s Joe Cremo (2,159 points), Bishop Maginn’s Talor Battle (2,162 points), his father and Shenendehowa grad Joe Girard Jr. (2,179 points), and Greenwich’s Tony Traver (2,189 points). The Indians next game will be on Tuesday, December 5th at 7:30 pm vs Gloversville, at Gloversville High School.
