Upstate Sports Zone’s Athlete of the Week: Joey Ward
This is our final Athlete of the Week for the fall sports season, and it goes to someone who’s been athlete of the week a lot this year, Troy running back Joey Ward. Ward has been nothing short of amazing this year and he was amazing in the NYSPHSAA Class AA State Championship this past Sunday, rushing 38 times for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 5 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown to help the Flying Horses to their second consecutive state championship, beating Lancaster 41-26. Joey’s spectacular touchdown run was even on Sportscenter’s “Top Ten Plays”.
