Upstate Sports Zone’s Athlete of the Week: Dev Holmes
We have another Troy Flying Horse for our Athlete of the Week, but this time it isn’t Joey Ward, it’s Villanova commit Dev Holmes. The Flying Horses took on Saratoga Springs in the Section 2 Class AA championship at Bob Ford Field on Friday night. The Flying Horses won their second straight Section 2 Class AA championship 28-6, and a big contributor to that was Holmes. Holmes carried the all 7 times for 132 yards and a touchdown. Holmes also caught 6 passes for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Troy will take on Section I’s New Rochelle at Columbia High School on 11/10, at 7 PM in the Regional Championship. The winner will go on to face Section IX’s Newburgh Free Academy at Middletown High School on 11/18 at 7 PM in the State Semi-Finals.
