Riders Roll Over Cats, Advance to Second Straight Sectional Final
On Thursday night at Stillwater high school, the #1 Ichabod Crane Riders took on the #5 Catskill Cats in the Section 2 Class B Semi-finals. The Cats had a very successful season, compared to their past seasons. The Riders have had a very successful season as well, winning the Colonial Council, and being undefeated. Ichabod payed their style of soccer that night, keeping the ball on the ground, and it payed off. Early in the first half Nick Johnston scored on a header off the corner from Kevin Winglosky. Later in the half Matt Ragosta scored, also on a corner, but this time it was from Anthony Carlucci. The Riders led 2-0 at the half. The second half proved how much of a second half team Ichabod is. They came out firing, scoring 5 goals in a 6 minute span. The first came from Nick Gallo. Gallo got the ball off a steal and sent it into the net. Later Carlucci would find an open Winglosky to make it 4-0. Less than a minute later Gio Gomez was fouled in the box and Winglosky buried the PK. 5-0 ICC. About a minute later Logan Groat found Winglosky, who made a move and gave it up to Carlucci who put it in the back of the net. Groat would later score to make it 7-0 and Gio Gomez capped it off with a goal. The Riders won 8-0.
Ichabod Crane will face Colonial Council rival Schalmont today in the Section 2 Class B Finals at Colonie high school at 12 PM!
