Ichabod Crane Defeats Conference Foe Schalmont to Obtain First Place, Colonial Council Standings


After La Salle lost to Voorheesville 1-0, the Ichabod Crane Boys Varsity soccer team new that this matchup against conference rival Schalmont was a must win. And that’s what they did, they won. The Riders took the victory 4-0 over the Sabres. The first half was fairly even between the two teams, ICC picked up the lead towards the end of the half on a goal from Freshman Edgar Gomez. The second half would be a different story, as the Riders scored all 3 of their goals within a 14-minute time span. Junior Giovanni Gomez started that with a goal 5 minutes into the half. Senior Parker Groat would score next 5 minutes after that, and then his brother, Sophomore Logan Groat scored on a beautiful header off the cross from Anthony Carlucci. The Riders have improved to 8-0-1 on the season and will take on Voorheesville on Friday, September 29th in Voorheesville. The Sabres drop to 7-2-1, and will take on Watervliet on Friday, September 29th at home.
