eSports Trying to be in the Olympics is the Most Ridiculous Thing I’ve Seen All Week
What in the world? eSports? Trying to be in the Olympics? That’s a joke. That’s awful. I can’t even believe this is a real thing we are talking about right now.
Okay so eSports are electronic sports, or video games. It’s pretty much people playing video games competitively. Whether it be for money, or a championship or whatever. These people competitively play Call of Duty, NBA 2k, Madden, whatever games they play against others for prizes or whatever like I said.
This eSports is trying to be in the Olympics. The Olympics. THE OLYMPICS. Like that thing where like every single country in the world has a team for like 50 different sports and they all compete against each other to decide who is the sports champion of the world. Yeah that thing. The thing that made legends out of Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Gabby Douglas, Katie Ledecky and others. AN ATHLETIC COMPETITION. eSports is not athletic whatsoever. I don't care who you are or what you say, eSports has no relation to the Olympics.
You’re telling me you want Little Joey out here winning gold medals for playing his Playstation? Look at guys like Michael Phelps and Justin Gatlin, these guys put their bodies on the line for their sports, they train as hard as possible for 3 and a half years for 2-3 weeks that only comes around every 4 years. eSports players may have to be mentally great to succeed at their game but the ATHLETES have to be mentally and physically great and they still don’t win all the time!
My main argument with this that Michael Phelps, Lindsey Vonn, Shaun White, Usain Bolt, these are all ATHLETES. People who play video games are NOT ATHLETES. There is nothing athletic about playing Call of Duty on your XBOX One while sitting on your couch talking to your friends through a microphone and headset. Nothing at all is athletic about that. The Olympics are a competition of ATHLETICISM.
