Ichabod Crane Boys Soccer Starts Season With Thrilling Win
What a thrilling game to start the season off with! Probably one of the most intense Ichabod Crane games I’ve been to and it was nothing short of great. The Ichabod Crane Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated Voorheesville yesterday with a 2-1 double overtime win. The Blackbirds started off the game well, putting pressure on the experienced Riders early. Joe Sia scored the first goal of the game for Voorheesville and the Blackbirds took the lead 1-0. Just 10 minutes before the end of the first half sophomore Logan Groat was fouled in the box, and senior Kevin Winglosky scored on the penalty kick. At the half it was knotted up at 1. In the second half Ichabod had many chances on goal, but fantastic play by Voorheesville goalie PJ Parker prevented the Riders from scoring. In double OT Winglosky set up junior Giovanni Gomez for the game winner.
