Orlando City Aquires USMNT Stud Dom Dwyer, Giving Them a Shot at the East

This is probably the way any player would ever want to be welcome to their new club, especially in this case if they are returning. The airport was mobbed yesterday for the highly anticipated return of the USMNT stud. This ambuish was all for the man nobody can stop talking about in Orlando, that man is Dom Dwyer.

Dom Dwyer is returning back to his roots in purple and gold, last playing with the club in 2013 when he was on a loan. This deal was blockbuster, and shocking to many. Sporting KC is sending off Dwyer back to Orlando City for for $400,000 in General Allocation Money, $500,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, and $700,000 in future allocation money based on performance. In total, the trade package could reach $1.6 million in allocation monies, a new record for MLS.

Dwyer is a straight stud, in the MLS and for the National team. He broke records in SKC scoring 22 goals in 2014 and is leaving the club with 57 goals in 128. That’s the most amount of goals since 2014 behind only Bradley Wright-Phillips. With the National team of recent Dwyer scored two goals in his first appearance.

Not only all those stats, but Dom Dwyer was named an MLS All-Star for the second time, giving him a chance to play with the world’s best in Chicago.

This trade is coming at the right time for Orlando City, who have been strugelling of recent. Dropping three of their last four and their goal scoring hasn’t been efficient, only 22 this season. Orlando City has two and now three of the best scorers in the league in Cyle Larin and Kaka. This trade could give Orlando City a good shot in the east, who sit just outside looking in at 29 points.

A vital game comes this week for Orlando when they take on Atlanta United FC. The game is in Atlanta and takes place on Saturday at 4:30. The season is in their own hands, and with Chicago, Toronto and NYCFC cooling down anytime soon, it should be a good stretch to end the MLS season.
