Luis Severino for Cy Young? Doesn't Seem as Crazy as it Sounds

Yeah, you read that right. And no, I'm not on drugs either.
Before I even start this article, let me start off by saying I do not think Luis Severino is gonna win the Cy Young. Chris Sale has that award pretty much in the books, seeing as he leads the American League in wins, earned runs average and strike outs. However, could Severino still be a dark horse to win the award? Yes, very easily.
Before you guys throw me in the flames and attempt to murder me via social media, hear me out. When you first look at his stats, the first thing is you notice his wins to loss record(7-4). Doesn't look too much like a Cy Young candidate player now does it? However, you should really look more into the games he has pitched before you decide to try to tweet me (speaking of twitter, follow me @kalebasch19 for more Yankees baseball coverage) and call me an idiot. He's had four games this season in which he left the game, eligible for the win. However, due to the bullpen forgetting what the strike zone was, they blew the four games (they did win one of the games after 18 innings against the Cubs). Add in another two games where Sevy had pitched beautifully, giving up only one run, but got no run support whatsoever, you have SIX games that should have been wins for Sevy. S.I.X. Fine, don't count the games where he had no run support, if that makes you feel better. Still. Add those four wins in to his record, and that moves his record up to 11-4 (fun fact, that would place him second in the American League for wins). Alright, alright. Let's say the bullpen blew just two of his games, since you cannot always rely on your bullpen. Even then, his record would still be 9-4, which would still put him in the top 10 for pitchers in the A.L.
Hell, you just look at his last four starts to see how good he really has been. Severino has been the Yankees best pitcher this season, and, while being inconsistent all season, is coming off another beautiful gem against the Cincinnati Reds, finishing with an absolutely beautiful stat line (7.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO). In his last four starts, however, his stat line is fantastic (28.0 IP, 21 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 7 BB, 31 SO). When you compare his stat line to Chris Sale, the likely Cy Young award winner for the American League (27.2 IP, 17 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 BB, 45 SO) the numbers are surprisingly similar.
Again. I don't think he is going to win the Cy Young. Not a chance. Chris Sale, Jason Vargas, James Paxton, Ervin Santana, the list goes on and on for pitchers who will get votes over Sevy. Sevy won't even get any votes (probably). I'm just suggesting an idea that, while is very far fetched and very very VERY unlikely to happen, shines light on the youth of the Yankees, and the potential this young man has.
