It’s A Great Day In Boston: Pablo Sandoval Is Gone
Pablo Sandoval is no longer apart of the Boston Red Sox organization. I have never been happier with the Red Sox front office. I was happy with the Chris Sale trade, but this is just amazing. As of 3:51 pm on July 19th, 2017 the Boston Red Sox released third baseman Pablo Sandoval. Back in 2015 the Red Sox signed the 255-pound third baseman to a 5-year $95 million contract with a $3 million signing bonus. Yeah so that’s like one of the worst contracts in Red Sox and in baseball history.
In 2015, his first year with the Red Sox Pablo hit .245 hitting 10 home runs and driving in 47 RBI’s which is a huge disappointment considering all the money Boston spent on him. In 2016 Pablo had the worst year of his career playing in just 3 games due to a shoulder injury. He got 6 at bats, and struck out in 4 of them. Finally in 2017 Pablo hit 4 home runs, drove in 12 runs, and had a batting average of .212. So to sum up his career in Boston it pretty much ruined his career.
Sandoval had many incidents and pretty embarrasing moments as a Red Sock. The first incident happened in the summer of 2015. Blogger Jared Carrabis from Barstool Sports saw on Instagram that Pablo had liked two photos at times that had been during a game in Atlanta. Pablo got suspended for that. On top of that incident Pablo suffered from tons of injuries and pneumonia eventually ended his season. In 2016 one of his six at-bats was the famous at bat when he swung out of his shoes and his belt legit explode because of all the fat that popped it open against the Blue Jays in Toronto. That year he also lost his starting job at third base to Travis Shaw, and that was prior to his left shoulder surgery. In December of this past year Sandoval did an interview with ESPN where he admitted that he was “so complacent” after signing the $95 million deal with the Sox. He also said he “did not work hard in order to achieve more and to remain at the level of the player that I am and that I can be.” So basically Pablo admitted to being a fat lazy worthless piece of nothing.
Pablo got paid his money and gave Boston nothing in return, which is pretty crappy if you ask me, and I would imagine a ton of people would agree with me. Pablo Sandoval is most definitely the worst contract in Boston Red Sox history. After the news broke that he was released by the Sox, a couple hours later it broke that his former team, the San Francisco Giants were interested in signing Pablo to a Minor League deal.
It’s hard to believe just 3 years ago Sandoval had captured his 3rd World Series title. He also won the 2012 World Series MVP when he hit .500 in the Giants four-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers.
So that’s it. Pablo is gone and now all the Red Sox need to do is focus on winning the AL East and getting to the playoffs for what would be the second year in a row. The first time they would make back to back playoff appearances since they reached October three consecutive seasons (2007, 2008, and 2009).
