Pablo Designated For Assignment, Devers Promoted

He’s gone! He’s finally gone! Well, not completely. This morning Pablo Sandoval was designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox. The 255-pound third baseman is hitting just .212, with 4 home runs, and 12 RBI’s in just 32 games. Sandoval has continuously been on the DL this year with sprained knees, and an inner ear infection. In other news top prospect Rafael Devers has been promoted from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Pawtucket. In Double-A this season Devers hit .300, with 18 home runs, 3 triples, 19 doubles, and 56 RBI’s. Devers could make a possible appearance on the Sox September call-up sheet this season and be with the team for the postseason, but he would have to make a good push for that to happen. But who knows, the Sox are going to be looking for third baseman now that Sandoval is out and according to some reports the Dombrowski will look to bring in Todd Frazier from the White Sox. So i looks like rookies Deven Marrero and Tzu Wei Lin are not the answer just yet.
