Miller’s Late Game Heroics Defeat Red Sox
The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-3 Sunday afternoon to close out the first half of the 2017 MLB season. For the Sox Mookie Betts led off the game with his 16th home run of the year. Dustin Pedroia would later homer as well in the 7th to take a 3-2 lead. Tzu Wei Lin added 3 hits in his 4 at bats today as well. David Price got the start going 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, on just 5 hits. He also struck out 5 batters. Joe Kelly lost his scoreless streak in this game as well earning a blown save and the loss. He went 1.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs (Brad Miller home run) on only 1 hit. Offensively for the Rays Brad Miller was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, Evan Longoria was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s as well. Corey Dickerson also added a hit and an RBI. Chris Archer was on the bump today going 6.2 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8. Brad Boxberger picked up the win and improved to 1-0, and Alex Colome picked up his 25th save of the year. The first half of the season has come to a close, and the All-Star festivities begin tomorrow with the Home Run Derby at 8:00 pm on ESPN. The All-Star Game will be at 7:30 pm on FOX.
