Sox Drop Game 1 To Rays 4-1
The Tampa Bay Rays are no the rise in the AL East. They jumped to third in the division and sitting at 45-42, 4.5 games back of the Red Sox in first place. They defeated the Red Sox tonight 4-1 behind Logan Morrison’s 3 for 4 game. He had 3 hits (a double and three singles). He also scored a run himself. Wilson Ramos went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run, driving in 3 runs and scoring 1 himself. Jacob Faria was on the hill for the Rays going 6 innings, and allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits. The Ray bullpen went on to allow just 1 hit in the next 3 innings. Chris Sale was on the hill for the Sox and turned in a solid outing, going 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 12. The only offense for the Sox came from Deven Marrero who had a pinch hit sac fly. He went on to be 1 for 2 in the game with an RBI. Dustin Pedroia added 2 hits in the loss. The Red Sox take on Tampa Bay tomorrow at 7:10 pm at Tropicana Field as Drew Pomeranz (8-4, 3.64 ERA) takes on Jake Odorizzi (5-3, 4.08 ERA).
