Benintendi's Big Night Lifts Sox Past Rangers
The Red Sox won their sixth consecutive game on Tuesday night (July 4th) defeating the Texas Rangers 11-4. Andrew Benintendi had a huge night going 5 for 5 with 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Jackie Bradley Jr. added 3 hits, driving in 1 run, and scoring 2 himself. Christian Vazquez also had 3 hits, he also drove in 1 run and scored 1 himself. Lastly Tzu Wei-Lin went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. David Price put together a solid outing going 6 innings, not giving up a single run and only allowing 6 hits. Blaine Boyer came in to relieve Price. He went 2 innings allowing 3 runs (all earned) on 3 hits. Robby Scott came in to shut it down in the 9th and gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit (a Delino DeShields home run). Offensively for the Rangers Adrian Beltre went 3 for 5, and Mike Napoli went 1 for 4 with a 3-run dinger. Yu Darvish got the start and went 4.1 innings, allowing 7 earned runs on 11 hits. Price got the win and is now 4-2 on the year, Darvish got the loss and is now 6-7 on the year. The Rangers and Red Sox close out their 3-game series tonight (Wednesday, July 5th) in Texas. Doug Fister (0-1) is on the bump against Andrew Cashner (3-7) at 8:05 pm. With last nights win and the Yankees loss the Red Sox are now 4 games ahead of New York in first place of the AL East Division.
