Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York: “With the third pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics select… Jayson Tatum from Duke University.”
Both 3rd overall picks, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown are on the rise to be Boston’s biggest stars. The duo is being called “Seven/Eleven” referencing the players’ numbers (#7 Brown, and #11 Tatum). Last night the duo debuted in the first Summer League game of the year. They took on the number one overall pick Markelle Fultz and the Philadelphia 76ers. Jaylen Brown was on fire, he scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Jayson Tatum added 21 points, and 7 rebounds to help the C’s to their first Summer League win of 2017. Sign and stash forward Ante Zizic also made his debut scoring just 9 points and grabbing only 5 rebounds. Tatum and Brown had some highlights, Tatum had a nice driving dunk, he also dished one to Brown on a fast break that Brown flushed with two hands and Tatum also drilled the game-winner with 5.7 seconds remaining.
So this is what the future will look like in Boston. The duo Seven/Eleven is here and is the real deal. These two young guys can bring a lot of electricity to the team. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jayson Tatum is in the mix for Rookie of the Year at the end of this season.
