Benintendi Lifts Sox Past Rangers In 11th For 5th Straight Win
The Boston Red Sox won their 5th straight game on Monday night, defeating the Texas Rangers 7-5 in 11 innings. Dustin Pedroia had a huge night going 3 for 5 with 4 RBI’s. Andrew Benintendi came in to pinch hit in the 11th for Chris Young and provided a 1 out single that scored Mookie Betts and Tzu Wei Lin, that would eventually win the ballgame. Rick Porcello had a quality start going 6.1 innings, allowing just 3 runs (all earned) on just 3 hits. After those 6.1 innings the bullpen combined to allow 2 earned runs on just 4 hits. Heath Hembree earned the win, and is now 1-2 in 2017. Ernesto Frieri got the loss and is now 0-1 in 2017. The Red Sox and Rangers face off again tonight on July 4th at 8:05 pm.
