Mookie Uses 2 Home Runs and 8 RBI’s to Lead Sox to 15-1 Win
8 RBI’s? 8? 8?! Mookie Betts went OFF on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. He collected 2 home runs and drove in 8 runs to lead his squad to a huge 15-1 win over the Blue Jays. Mookie finished 4 for 6 with 3 runs scored. The other two of his hits were singles. Hanley Ramirez had a big day going 3 for 5 with a home run of his own and 3 RBI’s. Deven Marrero added 3 hits, one a double and Tzu Wei Lin added 3 hits also, one being a triple. Jackie Bradley Jr. also had 3 hits, and Dustin Pedroia added 2, one being a double. All together the Sox managed 21 hits! A season high! The pitching was also great today. Drew Pomeranz was on the mound and is really hitting his stride. He went 6 today, allowing just 1 earned run (A Steve Pearce sac fly) on just 5 hits, while striking out 3. Fernando Abad came in in the 7th and slammed the door shut, allowing 0 hits in those three innings and picking up his first save of 2017. The Sox take on the Rangers in a 3-game July 4th series in Texas.
In game one tomorrow Rick Porcello (4-10) takes on Chris Perez (4-6) at 8:00 pm on ESPN. With the Red Sox win and the Yankees 8-1 loss to the Houston Astros today, the Red Sox are now 3 games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East.
