Lightning Captain Dave Andreychuck Inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame
Monday afternoon the NHL announced the 2017 Hockey Hall of Fame class and former cup wining lightning captain Dave Andreychuck was a part of the class. He’s part of a seven –person class which includes Teemu Selnne, Paul Karyia, Mark Recchi, Danille Goyette, Clair Drake, and Jermey Jacobs. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres with the 16th overall pick in 1982 and became one of the best goal scores in history. . He also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, and Colorado Avalanche. Andreychuck was a power forward who scored 274 power play goals which was more than anyone in NHL history. He is third on the Sabres all-time list in goals (368) and second in points (804) in 837 games. He was a key part of the Tampa Bay Lightning when they won the Stanley Cup back in 2004. He totaled 1,639 NHL games, scoring 640 games, and 1,338 points. He finished with a 23-year career that ended in 2005-06 season. He had to wait a long time on the ballot since 2009, but the wait is over because Dave will finally be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Toronto this upcoming fall.
