Jordan Spieth Captures Travelers Championship on Unbelievable Shot from Bunker

It was a memorable weekend for Jordan Spieth at the Travelers Championship. From the amazing short game, to the sand wedge throw after the shot to win it.

When Jordan hit that shot you instantly knew it was in, throwing the lob wedge, the crowd going absolutely insane. His caddie, also enjoyed the fun, chucking the bunker rake. Even when the crowd died down, it was all goosebumps.

This week at the Travelers was fairly different. As the superstar duo in Jordan Spieth and Rory Mcilroy decided to play for the first time. Jordan shot an opening round 63 and would carry overnight leads heading into the second third rounds.

Beginning the final round with a one-stroke lead over Boo Weekley at 12-under 198, Jordan Spieth’s even-par 70, coupled with Daniel Berger’s 3-under 67, resulted in sudden death between the two at 12-under 268. On the first extra hole, the par-4 18th, Spieth holed a greenside bunker shot for birdie. With Berger unable to match Spieth’s birdie, Spieth emerged victorious in his first Travelers Championship start.

This bunker shot was very similar to the shot in 2013 at the John Deere Classic. On the 72nd hole, he holed a greenside bunker shot to force sudden death with David Hearn and Zach Johnson. Spieth claimed his first career PGA TOUR title four extra holes later.

With the win, Spieth collects his 10th career PGA TOUR title in his 120th start at the age of 23 years, 10 months, 29 days. Spieth joins Tiger Woods as the only players in the modern era with 10 PGA TOUR wins by the age of 24. Woods had 15 before he turned 24.
