Red Sox Use 13 Hits, and 8 Runs to Defeat Royals, Take Sole Possession of First Place


In first place of the American League East are your very own 40-31 Boston Red Sox! I’ve been waiting too long to say that (or type it). This was just an overall great game. The offense was tremendous, 13 hits and 8 runs. Chris Sale was an absolute GOD like usual and the defense played good with 0 errors. Let’s start on the mound, Chris Sale gets the win and is now 9-3, he goes 8.1 innings, and allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits, all while striking out 10 batters, count em’ 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10! Fernando Abad came in for the last two outs but he's not that important. Chris Young hit second tonight, and absolutely MASHED! He went 3 for 5 with an RBI, and a run scored. One of his three hits was a double which would be his 8th of the year. Sandy Leon went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s all thanks to his 6th double of 2017. Xander Bogaerts had 2 hits, and brought in 2 runs. Sam Travis brought in a run with his only hit, a double. Mookie Betts had a hit which scored a run, and Deven Marrero went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and a double. Anyways the whole reason the Red Sox are in first place is thanks to the Los Angeles Angels, they defeated the Yankees 8-3, in the Bronx. They exploded for 14 hits. The Yankees have now lost 7 straight and are a half game out of first place with a record of 38-30. The Red Sox and Royals conclude their series tomorrow afternoon in KC at 2:15 pm Drew “Poopy pants” Pomewanz (6-4, 4.19 ERA) is back on the hill for the Sox up against Ian Kennedy (1-5, 5.03 ERA).
