Bogaerts Goes Yard Twice, Leads Sox to 6-5 Win

The bats finally came alive for the Red Sox in H-Town on Sunday night as they defeated the best team in baseball, the Houston Astros, 6-5 and won the series 2 games to 1. David Price got the start for the Sox and wasn't that great going 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits. Two of those hits were home runs hit by Carlos Correa and Jake Marisnick. Heath Hembree came in relief and gave up a ding dong right away to George Springer. Joe Kelly relieved him allowing just 1 hit and sitting down 2 with his 102 mph gas. Craig Kimbrel came in to close it out in the 9th and captured his 20th save of 2017. Joe Musgrove was on the hill for the Astros and went 5.2 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 7. Offensively both teams hit the ball pretty solidly. For the Red Sox Xander Bogaerts had a day going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, 4 RBI and two count em’ TWO ding dongs! Jackie Bradley Jr. also went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and he got his 9th double of the year. For the Astros carlos Correa went 2 for 5 with an RBI, 1 run scored with his 13th homer of the season. Brian McCann also had a pretty nice day going 2 for 3 with an RBI. The Red Sox will travel to Kansas City to take on the 33-35 Kansas City Royals in a three game series. Game 1 is tonight (Monday, June 19th) at 8:15 pm. Hector Velasquez (1-1, 6.48 ERA) will be on the bump in game 1 for the Sox and for the Royals it will be Jason Hammel (3-6, 5.05 ERA).
