Dutchmen Win Double Header, Miller Pulls Another Great Game
The Albany Dutchmen had a double-header today with the Glens Falls Dragons, winning both games (Game 1: 1-0, Game 2: 8-3). The Dutchmen won Game 1 on a walk-off stolen base by Rice University LF Brad Gneiting in a wild one. Game 2 was a phenomenal game to watch in my opinion.
Tommy Miller, Maple Hill native and Siena College baseball player, got the start for the Dutchmen in Game 2 today and was looking good through the first 4 innings. Through 4 innings he had 6 K’s, which was a season-high. Then, the Dragons got 3 runs on the board in the 5th and Miller came out. Miller had 4.2 innings pitched with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Despite his performance today, Miller is still having a good start to the season. He has a 2-0 record in 3 games. He also has a 3.00 ERA with 16 strikeouts (T-4 in the league).
The top hitter in the game was Oklahoma State SS Nick Gallo who went 2/4 with a single and a double and 3 RBI’s, season-high. The Dutchmen set a franchise record in Game 2 with 6 straight league wins. The Dutchmen continue to stay hot as they continue their winning streak to 8 games and they are 9-1 in their last 10. They stand at the top of the East Division with a 9-2 record. Their next game is tomorrow away against the Adirondack Trail Blazers with first pitch at 7:05 PM. We’ll look to see if the Dutchmen continue their hot streak tomorrow night!
