Pulisic the Hero, Scores Two to Lift USA Over Trinidad and Tobego
Two second half goals within a span of ten minutes lifted the US Men’s National Team to victory on Thursday. Both goals came from superstar Christian Pulisic, USA in need of a win for World Cup Qualfication. With the win it puts USA at 2-2-1 in the Final Round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The key for the US in the first half was their balanced attack. The attack in the 15th minute shot by Dempsey just flew over the crossbar. Trinidad and Tobego increased pressure to end the first half, two big saves to end the half by the US. They kept the US in check, something important to see this early in qualifying.
To open the second half it was all USA from here. Seven minutes in, when Pulisic slid through the area to capture his sixth international goal. Ten minutes later, when a simple combination between Yedlin and Altidore allowed the 18-year-old a lane into the box where he finished past Williams and inside the right post.
Next on the agenda for USA is southern foe Mexico on June 11th. The US is very hot, especially with the return of Head Coach Bruce Arena, unbeaten in six matches. Kickoff from historic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City is schedule for 8:30 p.m. ET and the match can be seen live on FS1, Univision and UDN.
