Calista Phippen has been dominant in her three years of high school softball. How much more dominant could she get? How many more awards could she win? Well she just won one more, and it’s a big one. 2017 New York State Gatorade Softball Player of the year! Calista led the Riders to the Section 2 Class B Championship game this year. She was phenomenal in the circle and in the batter’s box. In the circle she threw 113.1 innings, allowing just 42 hits in 18 games. She had a 0.61 ERA, allowing only 10 earned runs. She finished with a 13-2 record, she also struck out 250 batters and walked just 19. In the box she was also great, leading the team in OPS (1.357), Slugging (0.783), Triples (4), and RBI’s (37). She also had a .483 average, 29 hits, 17 of them singles, 7 more of them doubles, and 1 of them a home run. Phippen has committed to Marist College to play softball. She will enter her senior season this coming fall with still a great team that will be hungry for a Section championship!
