NYCFC Complete Comeback, End Winless Drought

Another week, and what looked like another week until the second half. City took on the Union on Saturday, only to find themselves in a hole with 10 minutes left. Once it hit that 10-minute mark, NYC turned on the gas down 1-0. They would score back to back goals on set pieces.
The match was in NYC’s hands shot after shot and save after save. Nothing could get passed Blake. Early on, NYC developed opportunities but just could not find the back of the net.
Chanot opened the scoring for NYCFC off of a corner kick, leveling it at one. Five minutes later, Alexander Callens bagged the game winner, and give NYC the 3 points.
Villa, Moralez and Jack Harrison couldn’t breakthrough, but a pair of unlikely heroes – Maxime Chanot and Alex Callens – provided the goals for NYCFC. Both players had never before scored in an MLS match and both tallied off of corner kicks, with Chanot heading home a Moralez cross and Callens cleaning up off a rebound following a Villa shot. Patrick Vieira won’t be able to count on those two to sustain that sort of production, but he’ll have no complaints on Saturday.
