KD Shows Potential, Warriors Rout Cavs in Game 1
The show in Game One of the NBA Finals belonged to Kevin Durant. From 3’s to the drive game, KD dominated the floor and showed his full potential for the series. He dropped 38 points and stepped up in a big way for the Warriors. Durant also added 8 rebounds and 8 assists to that total. The Warriors killed the Cavs on Thursday night, 113-91, a good momentum setter for the rest of the series.
This series is all about revenge for the Warriors after last year, and with the aquisiton of KD in the offseason, it was just one more step closer.
It wasn’t just as off game for LeBron James as he finished with 28 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in the loss. Steph Curry also finished with 28 points and added 6 three-pointers.
The key for Durant was when the Cavs left him open, and he took advantage. Taking the ball to the hoop and slamming it down (as seen above). He had 6 dunks for the Dubs in the first half alone.
Kyrie Irving, who hit the deciding 3-pointer with Curry's hand in his face last June as Cleveland rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to win its first championship, scored 24 points on 10-of-22 shooting. Kevin Love grabbed 21 rebounds and scored 15 points, while Tristan Thompson was held scoreless and to four boards.
This marks the first time ever in NBA history, two teams have gone to three consecutive NBA Finals against one another. After 9 days of rest for the Warriors it showed as they were well prepared and ready to take on the challenge of the Cavs. The Cavs had 20 turnovers total and the Warriors 4, a season low. Game 2 is Sunday at Oracle Arena in the Bay Area.
