Ichabod Sails to Win Over Schalmont, Advance to Play Cohoes in the Championship

Ichabod Crane sailed through their second sectionals game with ease against Schalmont today, beating the Sabers 5-1. The game began slow with no one scoring until the fourth inning. Once the Riders started hitting they slowly added on to their lead each inning. In the sixth three hits and a walk combined to score three, putting the score to 5-0. Calista Phippen earned the win with ten strikeouts out of the twenty-five batters she faced. The Sabers struggled to record a hit, and they didn't until the last two innings. Their outfield made a crucial error that gave the Riders an unearned run. Ashley Dekraii, Ashley Walsh, and Calista Phippen all recorded three hits each to lead the Riders to victory. Dillenbeck, Fleming, and Delaney each recorded one hit making up the Sabre's only hits in the game. Ichabod moves on to face Cohoes for the Class B sectional final, their only loss in the regular season, on Friday, May 26th.
