Senators Unload, Win Game 3
The Ottawa Senators were able to win game 3 by a score of 5-1, and the Senators were also able to take the 2-1 series lead. The Senators were able to strike first only 48 seconds in as Mike Hoffman would put in a shot off the boards to make it 1-0. Then it would take another 10 minutes until Ottawa would score again. Marc Methot would strike next as he put a rebound in the back of the net to make it 2-0. Then 2 minutes later Derick Brassard would jump onto a rebound in front of the Penguins net and he would put it home to make it 3-0, and the Senators weren't done there. Only 24 seconds later Zack Smith would pick up his own shot he put off the boards and he would put in a wrap around goal to make it 4-0. That goal would mark the end of Marc-Andre Fleury’s night as he let up 4 goals on 9 shots, and in came Matt Murray. That would mark the end of the first, but the Senators would make sure they wouldn’t go quietly. Going into the second the Senators had the momentum behind them and they looked to put the nail in the coffin soon. With only 2 minutes left Kyle Turris would fight for a loose puck and he would put the puck past Murray to make it 5-0. The Penguins looked scared going into the third, but that ended when Sidney Crosby deflected a puck past Anderson to make it 5-1 in favor of the Senators. The Senators would eventually end this game with a 5-1 win. This win outs momentum in the Senators favor as they look to take a 3 games to one lead friday night.
