Poopy Pants Pomewanz Strikes Again, Sox Drop Game 1 vs Brewers
Looks like the Red Sox are back to playing like crap. After getting two quality wins vs the Twins in Minnesota this weekend the Sox travel to Milwaukee to take on former Red Sock The Mayor of Ding Dong City, Travis Shaw. After what everyone thought was gonna be an offensive explosion this game, it was really just the Brewers. Keon Broxton led the Brew Crew with 3 hits, a homerun, a triple, and had 4 RBI’s. Carlos Torres got the win to go 2-3 on the year. He went 1.2 innings allowing just one hit, walking just one and striking out one. On the Sox side Mookie Betts went 4 for 4 with a leadoff home run to start the game, and also brought in 4 runs and scored another 2. Rookie stud Andrew Benintendi (AKA Benny Biceps) went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s. So it sound like the sox had a good night right? Yeah not so great. They did score 7 runs on 12 hits, but the pitching was just not quite on point… really not on point. Drew Pomeranz got the start going 4 innings, allowing 6 earned runs on 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out2. He also gave up 2 home runs, one to Broxton and the other to... you guessed it, Eric Thames! After Pomeranz was taken out the Sox used 5 relievers and they gave up a total of 5 runs on 6 hits. The worst part about this game was obviously the pitching. If the Sox wanna win ball games the pitching has to step up. Pomeranz has to be the Padre Pomeranz he was last year, Sale has been phenomenal, E-Rod has been good, and now they have Kyle Kendrick in the rotation who doesn’t have a great deal of major league experience. Their best hope is that David Price returns as quick and as healthy as possible. The Sox take on the Brew Crew once again in Milwaukee in game 2 of this 3 game series. First pitch is at 8:10 pm. Kyle Kendrick gets the start for the 17-15 Red Sox and Chase Anderson gets the start for the 17-16 Brewers.
