Red Bulls Fall to Union, Toronto Wins the Rematch of the Cup, MLS Week 10 Headlines
Lots of things to talk about from Week 10 in the MLS, here is everything you missed.
Week 10 was one of those odd weeks in Major League Soccer where almost every victorious team recorded a clean sheet. New York City FC was the only winner to concede a goal over the weekend, while Toronto FC gave up one tally on Wednesday night. Other than that, all the losers were shutout, although there was one draw on Saturday night between the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire.
Red Bulls Fall to Union
A team that we thought this weekend was going to take a top spot in the Eastern Conference, failed to even score a goal against Philly. Before the game the Union had four points total, yup, compared to the Red Bulls 16. CJ Sapong was the key to victory for the Union scoring a second half hat trick.
FC Dallas Remains Undefeated
One of the biggest headlines in the MLS currently is the fact that FC Dallas is yet out to another great start to the MLS Season. Last year they captured the Supporters Shield but struggeled in the playoffs and got eliminated early. This year they are unbeaten in 8 games played. This weekend was rest, but next weekend they take on NYCFC in primetime soccer.
Orlando Loses Twice This Week
After this week I think we can all agree that one of the hottest starts in franchise history is over. After falling to two teams evenly matched with the Lions, it is time for Orlando to get back on track. Even with the return of Kaka they couldn’t fine their usual offensive tempo. They lost to Toronto on Wednesday and Houston 4-0 on Saturday. Next weekend Orlando takes on Sporting KC.
Expansion Teams Have Even Weekend
This weekend was an off weekend for Atlanta United when NYCFC killed their defense at home. Minnesota proved themselves as the better team this weekend when they defeated Sporting KC, 2-1.
