CBA’s Offensive Charge Leading Toward Main Goal, an AA Championship
The main goal for CBA this season, an AA championship. Following last year’s loss in the AA championship, the main goal is to get back to the Joe. CBA is currently 10-2 overall, and 8-2 in the Suburban, a good spot to be heading into the last stretch of the season.
If you haven’t heard already, the Brothers are full of college commits. With most of them being seniors, they want that championship more than anything. For Nick Debrino, this season is special after coming off an injury from last season. “I am back and stronger and we are ready to go” Debrino added.
This season CBA has played some well contested games thus far, especially their most recent against a rising team in the Suburban, Mohon. The game finished 2-1 with a walk off by Peter Close. Another game included top seeded Ballston Spa, that game going 8 innings with a CBA victory 5-4.
At one point in the season the Brothers were outscoring opponents 50 to 1. A big part of their wins have been the offensive charge. But the defensive and pitching has been equivalent. CBA’s all-around game is solid, and something they will need to keep up.
The rest of their games will be contested as they go into their hardest stretch of the season, which includes #7 Niskayuna and Saratoga. “Nisky is going to be tough” Debrino added. When talking about what the Brothers would have to do for the rest of the season, Debrino said that “We need to continue what we are doing, playing defense and hitting the baseball. Coach tells us to win every inning and we will always come out on top so that's what we try to accomplish as a team”.
According to Nick, Shen is who CBA wants the most when it comes to Sectionals. “We are hoping for a rematch from last year, this year us coming out on top”. “We are finding ways to win”. Over the next couple of days, CBA will need to keep that offensive charge going as they take on two of the Suburban’s top opponents, Niskayuna (Today) and Saratoga (Tomorrow).
