Jack Harrison and NYCFC Complete HUGE Comeback, Defeat Crew 3-1
Jack Harrison was the big story around one of the best games in the eastern conference this weekend when NYCFC took on Columbus. Coming the matchup was set to be good, both teams sitting atop the eastern conference.
Something over the past few years happened that we haven’t seen since Patrick Viera arrived as head coach, Villa and Pirlo not in the lineup. Last year’s MVP and star midfielder were not in the starting lineup against Columbus in a must win game to make a move in the eastern conference table.
Was this a test for the young studs? Possibly. But all you need to know is that they proved their point. The game winner game from one of NYCFC’s best up and coming players, Jack Harrison. The goal gave them a 3-2 advantage over Columbus Saturday night. Harrison scored the first goal of the game in the 8th minute, which would be followed by two Columbus goals to put them on top. One goal coming out of the locker room in the second half, when NYCFC gave up an easy goal to Ola Kamara. Yangel Herrera scored the tying and as you know Harrison put in the winner.
Over the past few years, MAPFRE Stadium hasn’t given NYCFC as much respect. Coming in, City was winless in Columbus. This weekend the club pulled out their first victory, one of many for the future.
This loss for Columbus gives them back to back losses in back to back weeks against New York teams. Columbus looks to get back on track when they take on New England on Saturday at 7:30pm. For NYCFC they are set to play the hottest expansion team in the league, Atlanta United on Sunday at home at 4pm on YES.
