From Taunting to Ovation, A Classy Move by Red Sox Fans After Racial Insults Last Night

The O’s may have gotten the victory last night over the Sox, but it wasn’t all about the win that got all the attention. It was brought to the attention last night that O’s all-star outfielder was receiving “racial insults” from Red Sox fans.
Later after the game, Jones added “"A disrespectful fan threw a bag of peanuts at me," per USA Today. He also mentioned that he was called the “N” word several times, as well as a variety of words with the same meeting. “Thanks”.
Jones was a big part of the victory last night, driving in four hits to give the O’s 5 on the board to the Sox 2. With that win, it put the O’s sitting pretty in first place in the AL East with a record of 16-8.
Let me remind you that this isn’t the first time Adam Jones in particular he was at the end of racist chants at Fenway. Red Sox officals announced that the fan who was throwing the peanuts was ejected, but Jones had a different take on the way the person should have been pentalized. "What they need to do is that instead of kicking them out of the stadium, they need to fine them 10 grand, 20 grand, 30 grand," he said. "That's how you hurt somebody. You suspend them from the stadium, what does that mean? It's a slap on the wrist."
Tonight, Mookie Betts requested that Jones have a standing ovation for when he came up to the plate. Red Sox fans responded and he got just that. Classy move Red Sox nation.
