Oilers Start Strong, Take 2-0 Series Lead
The Edmonton Oilers took a 2-0 series lead over the Anaheim Ducks as they won 2-1. The Oilers have taken both game 1 and game 2 on the road, where the Ducks have dominated in the season. The Oilers would strike very early. Only 1 minute and 5 seconds into the first period Andrej Sekera would blast the puck past Gibson to take the early 1-0 lead. Going into the second period the Ducks were heavily favored to take this period as they were beating the Oilers in everything, expect the score, but the Oilers would give up no ground. Only 6 minutes into the second Patrick Maroon would deflect a shot from Jordan Eberle to score on the power play to make it 2-0. Then with 5 minutes left the Ducks would break Cam Talbot’s shutout. Jakob Silfverberg would snipe the puck past Talbot’s glove to make it 2-1. This would be the only goal Talbot would give up that game. The third period would be scoreless as John Gibson would make 11 saves and Cam Talbot would make 16 saves in the last period. The game ended with the Oilers leaving happy with a 2 games to none series lead. Cam Talbot would be the best player this game as he made 39 saves on 40 shots. John Gibson would make 21 saves on 23 shots. The Oilers go back home with a 2-0 lead with a chance to make it 3-0.
