Oilers Beat Sharks, Move On For First Time in 10 years
The Edmonton Oilers were able to beat the defending Western Conference Champions Sharks 3-1 in game 6 to move on to the Western Conference Semifinals for the first time in over 10 years. The first period was a scoreless period as Talbot made 6 saves and Jones made 9. The Oilers would open up the scoring in the second period as Leon Draisaitl would score on a breakaway only 54 seconds into the second to make it 1-0. This was Draisaitls first career playoff goal, and he did it in a big game. Only 1 minute later, Anton Slepyshev would get his own breakaway after the Sharks made a costly turnover to make the score 2-0. This was also Slepyshevs first career playoff goal. The Sharks would do their best to retaliate, but Cam Talbot stood strong and made major saves. Then with 8 minutes left in the game Logan Couture would feed a pass to Patrick Marleau, as Marleau would tip the puck past Talbot to make it 2-1, but it would not be enough. With .3 seconds to go in the game Connor McDavid would send the puck down ice and bury it in the empty net to make it 3-1 Oilers. Cam Talbot was stand up as he made 27 saves to pull out the playoff win for the Oilers.
