Caps Take Series Lead, Win in Overtime
The Washington Capitals were able to take a 3-2 series lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs as they won game 5 in overtime 2-1. The Capitals were able to strike first as T.J. Oshie would score with 2 minutes to go on the powerplay as he was able to bury home a rebound after the first shot went off the post, 1-0. Then 6 minutes into the second period, William Nylander would feed Auston Matthews who was able to bury the puck past Holtby to make the game 1-1. The third period was in control of the goaltenders who made key save after key save. Then at 1 minute into the overtime period Justin Williams would skate to the front of Anderson and he would put in a one-timer to give the Capitals the win in overtime, and the series lead 3 games to 2 going to game 6.
