Oilers Complete Comeback, Take Series Lead
The Edmonton Oilers overcame a 3-1 deficit against the San Jose Sharks. The scoring started off with the Oilers striking first at 5 minutes into the game as Patrick Maroon would deflect a shot on net, but when that didn’t go in he put in his own rebound 1-0. The Sharks would get on the board 5 minutes later as Mikkel Boedker was given the puck on a beautiful passing play and he would find twine to make it 1-1. 5 more minutes later Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau would go on a 2 on 1 breakaway and as Thornton shot it, Marleau was there to tuck the puck home, 2-1. David Schlemko would put the puck in the corner past Talbot’s blocker to make it 3-1. The Oilers were not giving up. 10 minutes later Mark Letestu would be fed a beautiful pass and he would score on the powerplay to make it 3-2. Then with 3 minutes left to go in the third period Oscar Klefbom would blast a shot from the blue line to tie the game at 3. Then with about 2 minutes left in overtime David Desharnais would cut to the middle of the ice and tip the puck past Martin Jones to complete the comeback.
