Nashville Makes History, Sweeps Chicago
On Thursday night, the Predators made history and beat the Blackhawks 4-1. They’re the first team in NHL history to be an 8th seed and sweep the number one seed. Roman Josi scored two goals for the Predators, while Colten Simmons joined the party by scoring his second goal of the series in the third period. Jonathon Toews ended the Blackhawks scoring drought to cut the deficit at one, but it wasn’t enough because Viktor Arvidsson scored the easy empty net goal to end the Blackhawks season. Pekka Rinne finished with 30 saves. Nashville did the unthinkable and swept the Stanley Cup favorites Chicago Blackhawks. The Predators were the faster team that wanted it more and the Blackhawks looked like they were sleep walking on the ice. Credit goes to the Predators for giving it they’re all when a lot of people had them losing to the hawks early and easily. The Predators are the second team (Ducks) in these playoffs to sweep the series and now they will be awaiting their opponent between the Minnesota Wild and the St. Louis Blues.
