Sharks Beat Down on Oilers, Tie Up Series
The San Jose Sharks beat down on the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 7-0 to tie the series at 2 games to 2. The Sharks would take no hesitation in this game by scoring only 15 seconds into the game off of a deflection from Joe Pavelski to give the Sharks the lead. About 10 minutes later Logan Couture would snipe the puck past Cam Talbot for a powerplay goal. The Sharks would strike quick again, while only 2 minutes into the second period Patrick Marleau would cash in on the 5 on 3 powerplay to make the score 3-0. Marcus Sorensen would score about 7 minutes later as he picked up a rebound in front of Talbot and he cashed in on a wide open net to make it 4-0. Logan Couture would net his second of the night as he sniped the puck past on Talbot's glove to make the game 5-0. After the fifth goal, the Oilers turned to their backup goalie Laurent Brossoit to make some saves. Some time later Leon Draisaitl would be given a five minute major penalty for spearing Chris Tierney. The Sharks would be able to score on this long penalty as 4 minutes later, Joe Pavelski would score his second of the night and another powerplay goal as he deflected in another shot to make the game 6-0. Then, 6 minutes into the third period, David Schlemko would score on the Sharks 4th powerplay goal on the night to make the score 7-0. This was the largest shutout during this Stanley Cup Playoffs so far. Martin Jones stood strong as he made 23 saves to post the 3rd shutout of this whole series (Cam Talbot has 2.)
