Capitals Tie Series, Win Big Game


The Washington Capitals have tied their series with the Toronto Maple Leafs as they took game 4 by a score of 5-4. The Capitals struck first as only 2 minutes into the game T.J. Oshie put the puck in a wide open net after Nicklas Backstrom was able to feed him a great pass. 2 minutes later Alexander Ovechkin blasts a one-timer past Anderson on the powerplay to make it 2-0, but the Maple Leafs made sure they stayed alive. Only a minute later Zach Hyman deflected a shot from Jake Gardiner to make it 2-1. Then with 6 minutes Tom Wilson would deflect a shot that came from Lars Eller to make it 3-1. This would be one of two goals that Tom Wilson would score this game. As just only 3 minutes Wilson would score on a wide open net after Andre Burakovsky gave him a beautiful pass to make the score 4-1. 5 minutes into the second James Van Riemsdyk would snipe the puck past Holtby on the powerplay to make it 4-2. That would be the only goal in the second period. Auston Matthews would strike 12 minutes into the third as he scored on a wide open net to make the game 4-3. T.J. Oshie would score 59 seconds later as the Maple Leafs made a costly turnover in their zone to make the game 5-3. Then with only 25 seconds left Tyler Bozak would shove the puck in to make it a 5-4 game. The Capitals looked shaky, but they they would hold on to win the game 5-4 and they were able to tie the series 2 games to 2.
