Blue Jackets Avoid Sweep, Win Game 4
The Columbus Blue Jackets avoided a sweep as they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins by a score 5-4 in game 4. Columbus would strike first by scoring halfway through first as Jack Johnson would get the puck in the net from a deflection off of a Penguins skate to make it 1-0. Josh Anderson would score with 2 minutes left in the first period as he rolled the puck past Fleury’s pads. The Blue Jackets would also score first in the second period as Markus Nutivaara burried his own rebound to make it 3-0. Patric Hornqvist would strike first for the Penguins on the powerplay as he buried his own rebound to make it 3-1. Ron Hainsey would score next for Penguins as he shot the puck from a bad angle to make it 3-2. William Karlsson would score for the first time in the third as he shot the puck but it missed the net, but it gave Karlsson the perfect chance to score on the wrap-around to make it 4-2. Tom Kuhnhackl would score 3 minutes later to keep this game alive for the Pens. Boone Jenner would score the last time for the Jackets as there was a scrum in front of the Penguins goaltender and the puck would find Jenner’s stick as he poked it home to make it 5-3. Jake Guentzel would score a shorthanded goal with 30 seconds left as he picked up his own shot after it was blocked to make the game 5-4.
